The South Moravian Region confirms its position as a top innovation hub in Central Europe, according to the latest Brno Tech Region 2026 report. The report highlights strong investments in research, cyber security, defense, chip design, electron microscopy, and aerospace industries.Brno University of Technology (VUT) plays a central role in this ecosystem, linking cutting-edge research with industry, fostering startups, and educating experts who contribute to both local and global technology sectors. Since 2021, institutions in Brno, including VUT, have secured over €167.5 million from Horizon Europe and 24 prestigious ERC grants, reflecting high success in research programs.Emerging fields such as cyber security, space technologies, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, and the gaming industry also benefit from VUT’s expertise. The university supports applied research centers like CEITEC VUT, Speech@FIT, and the Czech Semiconductor Centre, while students engage in real-world projects such as satellite development with YSpace.Talent remains the region’s strongest competitive advantage, with over 23,000 people employed in research and technical fields. VUT contributes by offering diverse programs, advanced facilities, and opportunities to participate in real technological challenges, preparing graduates to drive innovation globally.
