Czech Republic | Researchers from Palacky University Olomouc are developing an advanced mosquito monitoring and prevention system in the Litovelske Pomoravi under the MOSPREMA 2.0 project. The initiative combines sensor networks, digital landscape modeling, and data analysis to better predict mosquito outbreaks and respond more effectively. Scientists are also introducing modern technologies such as drones and helicopter-based systems to apply environmentally safe biological treatments targeting mosquito larvae.Following recent floods that reshaped the landscape, the area has been remapped using laser scanning to improve risk assessment. Additional sensors and CO2 traps will help monitor mosquito populations and detect invasive species early. The project focuses on regulating mosquito populations rather than eliminating them, ensuring minimal environmental impact while improving living conditions in affected communities.
