
Austria | Medical University of Vienna researcher Iris Minichmayr has received the prestigious Young Investigator Award from the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) in recognition of her outstanding contributions to clinical pharmacology and infectious disease research.The award was presented at the 36th ESCMID Global Congress, one of the world’s largest scientific conferences in the field of infectious diseases. It highlights early-career researchers whose work has significant international impact.Minichmayr’s research focuses on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modelling, which helps predict how drugs behave in the human body. Her work supports more precise and individualised dosing strategies, especially for critically ill patients, and contributes to improving antibiotic treatment and clinical trial design.She currently leads the Clinical Pharmacometrics group at MedUni Vienna and has an international academic background with research experience in Germany, Sweden, Australia, and Chile.The award underlines her growing influence in precision medicine and infectious disease pharmacology.
