Austria | A groundbreaking European project is bringing musicians together across borders to create Europe’s first remote orchestra using real time digital technology. The European Symphony initiative will connect performers in 12 locations across Europe for a live symphony orchestra and choir performance despite being physically separated. Mozarteum University is one of the key partners in the EU funded project, which will premiere in Dresden in 2027. Organizers have also launched an international composition competition inviting composers to create new music specially designed for remote orchestral performance.
