
Portugal | The University of Lisbon recently hosted a landmark international gathering of university counselors to accelerate its global outreach and solidify the city’s reputation as a premier academic destination. The high-level summit brought together education representatives from over a dozen nations—including Brazil, China, India, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, and South Africa—to establish direct ties with the university’s various faculties.University Rector Luís Ferreira opened the proceedings by highlighting the institution’s expanding footprint in global education, research, and innovation. The university boasts an impressive community of roughly 53,000 students, which includes a thriving population of approximately 12,000 international scholars. Furthermore, the academic network is backed by more than 5,200 researchers operating across 69 specialized research centers, driving forward interdisciplinary studies and academic entrepreneurship.Led by Vice-Rector Jorge Relvas, the later sessions shifted focus toward strategic networking, peer-to-peer workshops, and interactive Q&A panels. These collaborative segments allowed international counselors to explore the university’s diverse degree offerings and establish long-term institutional partnerships. By fostering closer relationships with high school guidance networks worldwide, the institution continues to enhance its capacity to attract top-tier international talent.
