
Hungary | Nobel laureate and University of Szeged professor Katalin Karikó was named the guest of honor at Drexel University College of Medicine’s commencement ceremony, where she received an honorary doctorate. The accolade marks the twentieth institutional honorary degree conferred upon the biochemist for her pioneering discoveries in mRNA technology.The distinction celebrates Karikó’s four decades of research into RNA-mediated mechanisms, which laid the foundation for modern mRNA protein therapies. Delivering the keynote address to the graduating class of 2026, Karikó shared six life lessons for personal resilience: love your work, master stress management, focus exclusively on what you can change, compare yourself only to who you were yesterday, believe in yourself, and choose a supportive life partner.
