This private support directly funds advanced laboratory equipment, specialized biomaterials, and essential technical staff required to maintain international scientific standards.The ongoing research projects target unique cellular mechanisms that drive malignant tumor development and genomic instability. One major initiative examines how specialized protein complexes act as molecular switches to control cellular protein production, focusing on how structural errors create aggressive “onco-ribosomes” that accelerate cancer growth. A parallel clinical project utilizes a roundworm model organism to rapidly screen chemical compounds, identifying therapeutic candidates that can immediately be tested on human tumor cells to slow down cancer progression. Additionally, structural biochemists are investigating how imbalances in basic DNA building blocks spark genetic damage, translating these fundamental cellular discoveries into highly precise targeted therapies.
