Belgium | A robotics expert from VUB believes humanoid robots are unlikely to experience a sudden breakthrough similar to ChatGPT. While advances in artificial intelligence are accelerating robot development, true human-like abilities require far more than data and software alone.Professor Bram Vanderborght explains that future progress depends on combining AI with advanced sensors, movement systems, and real-world learning. Although investment in robotics continues to grow rapidly, he expects humanoid robots to develop gradually rather than becoming universal assistants overnight.According to the professor, specialized robots will continue to play an important role, with future humanoid robots likely serving different purposes instead of becoming one-size-fits-all solutions.
