Students at Charles University are exploring creativity through nature in a unique art initiative led by painter Lucie Crocro. Since 2019, the project “Drawing and Painting Plants” has been held at the university’s botanical garden, allowing students to combine scientific study with artistic expression. The classes take place in the garden’s tropical greenhouse and outdoor areas, where participants create artworks inspired by plants. The program was developed with the support of university staff member Anna Procházková, who helped connect the worlds of science and art. According to Crocro, observing plants from different perspectives encourages both creativity and deeper understanding of nature. An exhibition titled “Territories of Plants” is currently showcasing artworks created by students. The exhibition runs from 2 March to 30 April 2026 at the Municipal Library of Prague – Břevnov Branch. The project has already attracted more than 300 participants from various faculties, including science, medicine, and mathematics.Organizers say the courses provide students with a relaxing break from academic pressure while strengthening their connection with nature and artistic exploration.
