
Karel Eliáš, lawyer, academic, and principal author of the current Czech Civil Code, received an honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa) from Univerzita Palackého in Olomouc. The award recognizes his exceptional contributions to legal science and culture. The ceremony took place at the Archbishop’s Palace, with Dean Václav Stehlík and Rector Michael Kohajda highlighting Eliáš’s impact on legal education, research, and pedagogy. Eliáš emphasized academic values, legal reasoning, and the importance of freedom and human rights.
