
Universities worldwide are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into higher education curricula, infrastructure, and academic culture. Recent developments show a shift from debating whether AI should be used in education to focusing on how it should be responsibly implemented in teaching, research, and institutional systems.Studies from leading universities highlight the importance of teaching students critical AI literacy, including understanding bias in AI systems and verifying information produced by chatbots. Meanwhile, growing concerns about unreliable AI-detection tools have pushed universities to rethink traditional assessment methods and focus more on evaluating the learning process rather than only final outputs.Several institutions are also embedding AI into their infrastructure. Some universities have introduced generative AI tools for their academic communities while maintaining strict safeguards for data privacy and intellectual property. Others have launched major initiatives to integrate AI into student success, teaching, and research activities.At the policy level, countries such as South Korea are planning mandatory AI courses across universities, while international collaborations are expanding research and education in AI. These developments show that AI is becoming a core component of modern higher education systems, shaping how universities teach, evaluate, and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital world.
