Spring productions at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki examine themes such as food relationships, body image, myths, and the experience of being seen. The new student works combine musical elements, documentary storytelling, multilingual performance, and contemporary interpretations of classic drama.
Among the premieres are performances exploring cultural attitudes toward food, neo colonial mythologies rooted in Latin American traditions, and the social dynamics of watching and being watched. Several productions will take place not only on campus stages but also in professional theatres across Helsinki during the spring season.
The performances highlight independent artistic processes, new full length plays, and collaborative thesis projects developed by students across directing, dramaturgy, lighting design, and scenography programmes.
