The University of Pannonia organized the third international CoreComm Solar Boat Challenge in Balatonalmádi, featuring 11 student teams from Hungary, Poland, and the Netherlands. Despite windy and occasionally cool conditions, Dutch teams proved the strongest, with Sunflare Solarteam, HAN Solarboat, and WhisperPower Solar Team taking top positions.
The event emphasized not only competition but also creativity, problem-solving, and international cooperation. Students learned from each other’s development methods while navigating technical and environmental challenges. The Pannon Solar Team’s boat, Sparky, performed strongly in this competitive field.
New records were set during the three-day event: the HAN Solarboat reached a top speed of 48 km/h, and Solar Team Twente demonstrated resilience by righting their capsized boat and finishing fourth.
Rector Dr. János Abonyi highlighted the competition’s importance in fostering sustainability, creativity, and social responsibility among future engineers.
