Masaryk University deeply mourns the sudden passing of Petr Pleva, Chairman of the Board of Masaryk University, on March 31, 2026. Pleva served multiple terms as chairman and contributed significantly to the development and strategic direction of the university, including the establishment of the University Campus Bohunice.A graduate of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, Pleva also had a distinguished political career as a member of the Czech Parliament and as a local representative in Brno. Colleagues remember him for his leadership, dedication to education and culture, and his efforts in student and community engagement.Pleva’s passing is a significant loss for Masaryk University and the wider academic community.
