Hungary | April 7, 2026 Students in Budapest have raised concerns after encountering unexpected service disruption at an OTP Bank branch located at Deák Ferenc tér—one of the city’s busiest and most visited areas.According to a student report, the branch’s ATM services were completely inaccessible without any prior notice. The student claimed they attempted to withdraw money but were unable to do so as the ATM booth was closed, and entry was restricted. Even standard card access to the ATM area was reportedly non-functional, with the entrance door not opening at all.The situation has sparked frustration, particularly given the location’s high foot traffic from both students and international tourists. Deák Ferenc tér serves as a central hub in Budapest, making reliable access to banking services especially critical.Students have expressed concerns over the lack of communication from the bank, emphasizing that sudden service closures—especially in key locations—can create unnecessary inconvenience and disrupt daily activities. As of now, there has been no official statement from OTP Bank regarding the reason behind the ATM shutdown or when services are expected to resume.
