The University of Liège achieved a remarkable milestone at the 2026 Liège 15 km running event, with its Team ULiège setting new participation records and dominating the competition.A total of 1,785 participants from the university community took part in the race, surpassing the previous year’s record. Together, they covered more than 22,600 kilometers, highlighting both strong engagement and athletic commitment. The team included students, staff, and alumni from all 11 faculties, representing 43 nationalities and reflecting the university’s growing international diversity.Team ULiège once again stood out as the largest group in the event and secured all six collective awards. Several participants also delivered outstanding individual performances, including first-place finishes in major race categories. In the interfaculty challenge, the Faculty of Medicine claimed the top position for the first time, overtaking the long-dominant Faculty of Applied Sciences.The event also carried a moment of sadness, as a university student passed away after falling critically ill during the race. The university expressed its condolences and support to the family.Overall, the event highlighted the strong sense of community, inclusivity, and sporting excellence within the University of Liege.
