Ireland | Twenty-five PhD candidates from Trinity’s Faculty of STEM recently visited the Intel Ireland campus in Leixlip to participate in a multi-disciplinary training program and site tour. Jointly organized by Trinity’s School of Chemistry and Intel Ireland, the trip brought together doctoral students from chemistry, physics, and engineering disciplines to connect academic research with large-scale industrial operations.During the visit, students toured the multi-billion-euro Fab 34 manufacturing facility and engaged with Intel staff to discuss varied career paths in tech. The candidates also competed in a rapid, multi-disciplinary problem-solving challenge designed to mirror real-world industrial workflows. Organized in conjunction with the Research Ireland-funded Chemistry Toolbox project, the initiative highlights the growing employer demand for STEM graduates equipped with vital non-technical skills like communication, empathy, and adaptive teamwork.
