Belgium | The University of Liège has secured a major funding boost from the Stop Alzheimer Foundation, which awarded 630,000 euros to support four highly promising neuroscientific research initiatives. This substantial financial commitment elevates the foundation’s total contribution to the university’s research pipeline to 4.2 million euros over recent years. The funded 2026 initiatives leverage advanced ultra-high-field MRI technology and cognitive modeling to explore early disease indicators, focusing heavily on how the brain clears metabolic waste during sleep and developing specialized cognitive tests to diagnose neurological changes well before clinical symptoms emerge. These complementary studies aim to address critical diagnostic gaps, offering vital therapeutic pathways for patients battling aggressive, age-related neurodegenerative conditions.
