Researchers from Jagiellonian University and AGH University of Science and Technology have introduced new reports and tools aimed at protecting academic research from rising cyber threats. The initiative highlights how universities are increasingly becoming targets of cyberattacks, with sensitive data such as unpublished research, patents, and emerging technologies now at risk. According to recent findings, the education and research sector has become one of the most frequently attacked globally. To address these challenges, experts developed the Research and Education Security Report and the SOC4Academia Toolbox, offering both strategic insights and practical solutions. These resources provide guidance on risk management, data protection, and implementing advanced cybersecurity systems within academic institutions. The project emphasizes the growing importance of balancing openness in research with stronger security measures, ensuring that universities can continue international collaboration while safeguarding critical knowledge and innovation.By combining policy recommendations with technical tools, the initiative aims to help universities across Europe strengthen resilience against cyber threats and protect their role as key drivers of technological advancement.
