
The Polytechnic Institute of Braganca has signed a new contract with the Municipality of Mirandela to strengthen collaboration in research development and innovation. The agreement, formalized through the School of Communication Administration and Tourism, aims to bridge academic knowledge with real regional needs.During the signing ceremony, representatives from both institutions highlighted the importance of applying academic research to practical challenges. The partnership focuses on applied research, technological development, and administrative innovation to support regional growth.As part of the agreement, the Municipality of Mirandela will provide financial support of 12 thousand euros to fund a research scholarship in 2026, along with technical and logistical assistance for project implementation.Several innovative projects were presented, including ReChef, an initiative originally designed to reduce food waste that has evolved into promoting regional gastronomy and healthy eating habits. Other projects include smart monitoring systems using Wi Fi and Bluetooth technologies to improve urban management, contributing to Mirandela’s development as a smart city.The partnership will run until November 2026 and aims to implement tested research solutions in real environments while producing scientific outputs and supporting talent development. This collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to sustainable development, knowledge transfer, and regional innovation.
