Slovenia | Researchers at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana have developed an innovative elastocaloric cooling system that offers a more energy efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional refrigeration technologies. The new design uses a constant torque drive mechanism and energy recovery system, achieving up to 70 percent work recovery efficiency while reducing power demands. The breakthrough could accelerate the commercialization of next generation cooling and heating systems without harmful refrigerants.
