On 16 February 2026, a screening of the documentary Czech Scientists in Antarctica took place at the Moravian Library Conference Hall in Brno. Produced by Česká televize in collaboration with Masaryk University, the film follows Czech researchers at the Johann Gregor Mendel station on James Ross Island, highlighting over fifteen years of climate change research in extreme polar conditions.
Director Petr Horký spent two months with the scientists, capturing both the challenging expedition preparation and the breathtaking Antarctic landscape. The documentary coincides with the university’s 20th Antarctic expedition, which includes climate and glacier monitoring as well as medical equipment upgrades at the station. Entry to the screening was free.
