
Charles University hosted the annual event “Speak Up. Women Should Be Heard” to highlight the achievements and challenges of women in science and professional fields. The event took place on F at the Hybernská Campus and was organized by the university’s Faculty of Social Sciences.During the first discussion panel, researchers including Anežka Kuzmičová and Kateřina Chládková shared their experiences balancing academic careers with family life. Speakers discussed systemic challenges faced by researchers, especially when combining scientific work with parenting or caregiving responsibilities. Experts such as sociologist Jaroslava Hasmanová Marhánková and gerontologist Iva Holmerová also highlighted the need for institutional support and policy improvements.A second panel featured successful alumni working outside academia, including HR expert Blanka Havelková and cybersecurity specialist Ivana Špačková. They shared career experiences and encouraged students to develop both technical knowledge and soft skills.The event aimed to inspire students and researchers while promoting equal opportunities and stronger representation of women in science and leadership.
