Walton Institute at South East Technological University (SETU) marks 30 years of ICT research and innovation, highlighting three decades of collaboration with over 800 partners worldwide on projects valued at more than €485 million. Established in 1996 as the Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), Walton has grown into an internationally recognised research institute working across artificial intelligence, advanced communications, digital health, smart cities, and more.With over 80 students, postdoctoral researchers, and engineers, Walton engages in national and European research initiatives, supporting SMEs, public sector organisations, and multinational companies. Its work in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies underlines Ireland’s growing contribution to European innovation as the country prepares to take the EU Council Presidency.
