South East Technological University researcher Dr Manasa Hegde has been selected as one of 21 new members of Young Academy Ireland, a prestigious body representing emerging research leaders across the country.Dr Hegde, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (engCORE) at SETU’s Carlow campus, conducts advanced research on sol-gel coatings for metals and composites to improve durability and sustainability in harsh environments. Her work also spans bioplastics, cardiac sensors, and antimicrobial nanomaterials.Dr Hegde’s selection recognises her academic achievements and contributions to engineering research. She expressed gratitude for the support from SETU and looks forward to collaborating with fellow researchers to make an impact in engineering, materials science, and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives.
