
Professor Wilfried Ellmeier, Head of the Institute of Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna, has been elected to the Council of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). The IUIS, founded in 1969, represents nearly 30,000 immunologists worldwide through 84 national societies and regional associations across Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Oceania.
Ellmeier, a leading immunobiologist, focuses on epigenetic and transcriptional mechanisms regulating T cell development and immunity. He has received several awards including the START Prize and the Novartis Prize for Biology, and currently serves as President of the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology. His election to the IUIS Council highlights his international recognition and commitment to advancing global immunological research.
