The Polytechnic Institute of Braganca, through its School of Hospitality and Wellness, organized a health-focused initiative aimed at preventing falls among the elderly as part of its Health Week activities.The event, titled “Not Falling For This,” targeted individuals aged 65 and above and involved participation from all academic programs within the school. It combined educational and practical components to raise awareness about fall risks and promote safer living environments.Participants attended informative sessions highlighting the importance of adapting home spaces, maintaining healthy habits, and reducing environmental hazards. The initiative also included hands-on assessments such as balance and mobility tests, muscle strength and flexibility evaluations, and monitoring of key health indicators including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.In addition, attendees experienced a wellness-themed tasting session featuring a protein-based snack designed to support balanced nutrition for seniors.The event fostered meaningful interaction between students and participants, encouraging knowledge exchange and strengthening intergenerational connections. It also reinforced the university’s commitment to community health, prevention, and well-being.
