University of Ljubljana recently organized a workshop focused on helping educators effectively teach artificial intelligence to students in a meaningful and responsible way. The session was held at the Faculty of Education and aimed to support teachers in integrating AI into their courses with a strong pedagogical foundation. The workshop emphasized key principles such as critical thinking, human-centered approaches, ethical awareness, and understanding the role of data in AI systems. Participants explored practical methods to help students not only use AI tools but also understand their limitations and impacts.Interactive activities formed the core of the workshop. Educators engaged in exercises like identifying AI in everyday life, building simple AI models, and analyzing how data influences outcomes. Special attention was given to understanding errors in AI systems, highlighting that such systems recognize patterns rather than true meaning. The session also introduced the use of generative AI, where participants practiced crafting effective prompts and evaluating AI-generated results. Discussions encouraged educators to ensure that AI supports learning rather than replacing critical thinking.Ethical use of AI was another key focus, with participants examining privacy concerns, data usage, and transparency. The workshop concluded with future-oriented discussions, where educators reflected on how AI should be responsibly integrated into their respective fields. The initiative highlights the university’s commitment to advancing AI literacy and preparing both educators and students for the evolving digital landscape.
