The University of Coimbra’s Astronomical Observatory is hosting a new exhibition titled “The Tropics Have Pores,” which combines painting, image, object, movement, and sound. Inspired by the Observatory’s scientific collection, the exhibition by artist Lilian Walker encourages visitors to rethink the act of observation by engaging the senses rather than relying only on scientific objectivity. It explores connections between body and territory, micro and macro perspectives, and visible and invisible dimensions through interactive and tactile artworks, including pieces developed in collaboration with the Portuguese Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (ACAPO). The exhibition opens on April 18, 2026, and will run until July 12 at the Museum of the Observatory of Coimbra.
