The University of Liege hosted the 14th STICS Symposium, bringing together over 50 international scientists to explore new perspectives in agricultural systems modeling. Organized by Gembloux Agro Bio Tech, the event marked the first time the symposium was held outside France.The symposium gathered researchers, developers, and users of the STICS crop model to present the latest scientific and technical advancements. Discussions focused on major global challenges, including food security, environmental sustainability, biodiversity preservation, and climate change.Keynote speakers shared insights on expanding the application of modeling, encouraging participants to connect research across scales from root level processes to entire food systems. The event also featured case study presentations, poster sessions, and interactive discussions aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation.The symposium highlighted the growing importance of soil crop modeling in supporting agroecological transition and addressing future agricultural challenges.
