Vladimír Holibka has been awarded the title of emeritus professor by Palacký University Olomouc in Olomouc, recognizing his lifelong contributions to medical education and research.A respected figure at the Faculty of Medicine, Holibka is widely remembered by generations of students for his teaching of anatomy. He began his academic career at the university after graduating in 1959 and remained closely connected to the Department of Normal Anatomy throughout his professional life.Under the mentorship of Josef Zrzavý, Holibka developed his expertise before eventually leading the department from 1974 to 2005. During his tenure, he played a key role in modernizing anatomy education and advancing morphological sciences in the Czech Republic.His research focused on the development of human immune tissues, particularly tonsils, and included contributions to anthropometric studies. He has authored numerous scientific publications and contributed to anatomical atlases and teaching materials.Beyond academia, Holibka has been active in sports, including kayaking, cycling, and tennis. Even in retirement, he remains engaged with the university community.The emeritus title was formally awarded during a ceremonial event attended by faculty leadership, including Jitka Petrová, alongside doctoral graduations and academic promotions.The honor highlights Holibka’s lasting impact as both a scholar and educator, continuing to inspire students and colleagues alike.
