
Czech Republic | Three prominent representatives from Brno University of Technology have been honored with the South Moravian Region Awards for 2025. The annual regional awards celebrate exceptional individuals whose research, innovations, and community dedication have driven regional development.The university laureates were recognized across three distinct disciplines:Miroslav Dumbrovský (Civil Engineering): Honored for his practical research on landscape water retention, soil erosion protection, and climate change adaptation.Tomáš Opravil (Chemistry): Awarded for science popularization, having co-founded the regional Science Festival and organized interactive educational shows for the public.Svatopluk Sládeček (Architecture): Recognized for boosting the region’s reputation through his original, award-winning figurative architecture designs.The regional ceremony also presented honors to other notable figures in medicine, space engineering, and community service, including a special in memoriam award for Barbora Bühnová, the co-founder of the Czechitas IT education initiative.
