
Czech Republic | Palacký University has announced the winners of its 32nd annual Student Literary Competition during the Olomouc May Festival. This year’s contest saw a high turnout across all faculties, introducing a new popular-science essay category alongside poetry and short stories to bridge literature with public science. Over 100 student submissions were evaluated anonymously by an expert panel of judges.Magdaléna Ordeltová achieved a historic double victory, securing first place in both poetry and the inaugural popular-science essay category for her work on sociolinguistic taboos. Meanwhile, Daniel Hák won the top prize in the competitive short story category. Organized by the university’s publishing house, the long-standing competition continues to provide a vital platform for emerging student writers, with winning texts set to be published online and in selected media.
