Sweden | Karolinska Institutet recently hosted a major summit bringing together hundreds of delegates from the European University Hospital Alliance network, NeurotechEU. The multi-day event gathered students, researchers, and academic leaders from nine prominent European universities to foster international collaboration and establish Stockholm as a leading global hub for neuroscience and life science innovation.Centered around the theme “Next Generation – Skills, Talent, Careers & Innovation,” the summit featured targeted research symposia, practical workshops, and student-led activities. Participants focused heavily on the intersection of artificial intelligence, advanced brain imaging, data analysis, and healthcare entrepreneurship. Academic leaders emphasized that true breakthroughs in neurotechnology require dismantling traditional academic silos, urging a cross-disciplinary integration of neuroscience, medicine, engineering, computer science, ethics, and business. Co-funded by the European Union, the NeurotechEU alliance aims to build a fully integrated, borderless European university system dedicated to brain research and technological development by 2040.
