Finland | A new three-year initiative coordinated by Turku UAS is exploring how generative artificial intelligence can streamline everyday tasks within the social sector. Named the AI TEKO! project, the venture aims to introduce AI tools into social services in a controlled, sustainable, and ethical manner to support work quality, frontline leadership, and staff well-being.Confronted with labor shortages, tight finances, and growing digital demands, social sector professionals could utilize conversational language models for tasks such as creating plain-language customer materials, brainstorming functional group activities, generating tailored service options, and drafting stakeholder communications. By automating repetitive routine tasks, the technology aims to free up crucial time for direct customer care. The initiative is being conducted in close cooperation with nearly 30 Finnish organizations across child protection, elderly care, disability services, and mental health support. Working alongside multiple regional universities of applied sciences, the project will map out baseline digital capabilities, establish critical ethical guidelines, and ultimately publish open-access training roadmaps and practical guides to support the responsible deployment of AI tools.
