Portugal | The University of Évora launched its extensive “art[EA] week 2026” festival to celebrate the 17th anniversary of its School of Arts and 30 years of artistic education within the institution. The city-wide initiative transforms local spaces into venues for artistic creation, laboratory workshops, and live performances, showcasing student work in music, theater, architecture, and visual arts. During the institutional opening ceremony at the Colégio dos Leões, academic leadership highlighted the school’s unique standing as the only Portuguese university program unifying all these creative disciplines under one roof. Speakers emphasized the vital role of arts in fostering critical thinking, cross-disciplinary research with sciences, and boosting regional cultural dynamics as the city prepares to become the European Capital of Culture in 2027. The ceremony also featured musical performances by student ensembles and honored key former rectors and professors with custom marble sculptures for their institutional contributions.
