Poland | The Gdansk University of Technology is presenting a new research initiative called PreciousHMFstudy, focused on developing technology to improve and personalize the nutrition of premature infants. The project aims to create a system that allows safe and precise enrichment of breast milk directly in hospital conditions, helping better meet the nutritional needs of newborns with very low birth weight. It combines medical practice, scientific research, and technological innovation.A seminar launching the project will take place on 23 April at the university’s Chemistry Auditorium, where partners will present their roles and objectives. These include companies working on milk analysis and enrichment technology, as well as medical and academic institutions contributing clinical and research expertise. The project is led by researchers from the university’s Department of Food Chemistry, Technology and Biotechnology and is funded under the Swiss Polish Cooperation Programme and the National Centre for Research and Development. It will run until 2029.Experts involved emphasize that the initiative demonstrates how collaboration between science, medicine, and industry can lead to practical solutions that improve healthcare outcomes for the most vulnerable patients.
