Sweden | A historic university community recently celebrated the academic achievements of 290 doctoral graduates, 16 honorary doctors, and 48 jubilee doctors who earned their degrees 50 years ago. The traditional ceremony, characterized by the symbolic presentation of academic hats and laurel wreaths, took place in a local cathedral following a formal academic procession through the city center.Despite a minor detour in the traditional procession route due to ongoing main building renovations, the solemn event proceeded smoothly under bright sunshine. Among the prominent international scholars recognized during the ceremony was a professor of global sustainability governance, who received an honorary doctorate in social sciences for pioneering contributions to environmental politics. The formal celebration also featured a traditional 50-gun military artillery salute fired to pay tribute to the continuous hard work and societal contributions of the graduating researchers.
