
Ireland | Mary Immaculate College will host a national STEM Education Conference on 22–23 May 2026, focusing on the implementation of Ireland’s new primary STEM curriculum and its impact on teaching and learning in classrooms.The conference, titled Integrated STEM for a Future Ready Generation Implementing Ireland’s new primary STEM curriculum through interdisciplinary learning and emerging technologies, will bring together educators, researchers, policymakers, and teacher education experts to explore how STEM can be effectively integrated into primary education.The two-day event will examine the shift towards interdisciplinary teaching approaches designed to strengthen students’ creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. It will also address the growing role of artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies in education, along with their ethical and practical implications.Day one of the conference will focus on academic research and theoretical perspectives in integrated STEM education, primarily targeting researchers and teacher educators. Day two will shift to practical classroom applications, featuring workshops for both in-service and pre-service primary school teachers.The programme will include contributions from higher education institutions, education agencies, curriculum bodies, and professional development organisations, as well as classroom teachers showcasing innovative, inquiry-based learning practices.Conference organisers emphasised that the event comes at a key moment as Ireland’s new primary STEM curriculum begins implementation.
