
Ireland | Mary Immaculate College final year Media and Communication Studies students are set to showcase six original documentary films at a public screening event, highlighting the culmination of their academic journey and creative development.The screening will take place at Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick City on 30 April 2026 and forms part of the students’ final year assessment. Working in small production groups, students have created documentaries on a wide range of contemporary social, cultural, and personal themes, along with short television-style advertisements.The selected documentaries reflect diverse storytelling approaches and subject matter. Topics include the revival of the Irish language in An Teanga Bheo – The Rise of the Irish Language, while Being Me explores the lived experience of a student with ADHD and Asperger’s, offering insight into neurodiversity.Other productions include Our Farm, which focuses on the realities of Irish family farming, and Electric Boogaloo, which reflects on nostalgia and the evolution of media formats across recent decades. Sláinte – Nightlife in Limerick captures the atmosphere of the city’s evening culture, while Travel, Tents and Tenants – A Student Survival presents a humorous documentary-style look at student life challenges in Ireland.Department staff emphasised that the event is both a creative showcase and a celebration of student achievement at the end of their studies. The documentaries were developed under academic supervision and reflect both technical skill and narrative understanding.Faculty members highlighted that the screening represents an important transition point for students as they prepare to graduate and enter professional media industries, with the event also open to the public to celebrate their work.The screening is free of charge and will take place in an evening public event designed to share student creativity with a wider audience.
