Finland | Researchers from Finland, Taiwan, and France have discovered that a single radioactive cloud likely spread highly radioactive microscopic particles across large parts of Fukushima during the 2011 nuclear disaster in Japan. The study found that cesium rich microparticles were carried by wind on March 15, 2011, and later deposited by rainfall, creating uneven contamination patterns across the region. Scientists say the findings improve understanding of how radioactive materials spread after nuclear accidents and may help future environmental risk assessments and cleanup efforts.
