
Denmark | Associate Professor Anders Bach-Mortensen from the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University has been elected as a new member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters’ Young Academy (Det Unge Akademi). This independent platform brings together some of Denmark’s most talented young scientists to strengthen basic research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and bridge the gap between science and public policy.Dr. Bach-Mortensen’s research focuses on social policy and eldercare logistics, specifically analyzing privatization trends and the rising public expenditures tied to specialized social service programs. Beyond his analysis of the Danish welfare state, his research into the British care sector and child foster systems has achieved international prominence, earning recent citations by major global outlets including the BBC and the Financial Times. Inducted for a five-year term starting in September 2026, he aims to utilize the academy’s collective voice to elevate crucial debates regarding institutional funding, teaching models, and research policy.
