A student who is likely to secure a top rank in JEE Advanced and an Electrical Engineering seat at a top IIT has shared confusion about whether to pursue engineering in India or accept admission to universities in Germany.
The student, who also holds a C1-level German language certification and is considering future work in quant finance, said they are equally interested in core electrical engineering and international academic exposure. They are now comparing IIT EE with TU9 and other German public universities, while also noting that financial constraints are not a major concern for their family.
The question has sparked discussion among students interested in finance and engineering careers, with many pointing out that IITs offer strong brand value and placement networks in India, while Germany provides lower-cost education, strong technical depth, and broader European exposure. Others emphasize that the best choice often depends on long-term goals—whether the student wants to enter global research/quant roles early or build a strong domestic academic and placement foundation first.
