Czech Republic | An intensive eight-week industrial program bridged the gap between academic theory and manufacturing logistics as university researchers designed operational upgrades for a prominent European pet food manufacturer. The initiative expanded upon a preliminary sustainable manufacturing design event, allowing participants to directly tackle complex structural engineering and resource conservation problems.Working alongside international corporate mentors, five multi-disciplinary student teams engineered technical solutions for two specific manufacturing challenges: optimizing meat processing techniques through ultrasonic technology and refining thermodynamic recovery workflows to stabilize factory energy cycles. The hands-on curriculum incorporated corporate plant inspections, design-thinking workshops, team coaching, and advanced pitch training. Due to the high standard of technical modeling presented, the expert panel selected two joint winning teams to receive corporate academic scholarships, demonstrating how university-industry alliances accelerate environmental and technological efficiency.
