Austria | Learning behaviour is closely connected with sleep quality among medical students, according to a new study. Researchers found that students who use strategic learning methods such as planning and time management tend to experience better sleep during exam periods. In contrast, surface learning approaches like rote memorisation are linked to poorer sleep and longer time to fall asleep. Deep learning methods showed mixed effects, but combined with strong strategic habits they were associated with better overall sleep outcomes. The study suggests that improving study strategies could help students maintain healthier sleep patterns and improve academic performance.
