Czech Republic | Charles University in the Czech Republic achieved an outstanding triple victory at the 31st annual Ibero-American Prize ceremony held in the historical Patriotic Hall of the Carolinum. Students from the Faculty of Arts secured both first and second place for their analytical essays on contemporary Latin American chronicles and Hispanic linguistics, while a senior professor from the Institute of Romance Studies received the prestigious faculty recognition award. Hosted by the Embassy of Mexico, this year’s competition saw a significant expansion across international relations and social science departments, drawing submissions that explored critical regional issues such as global migration patterns, care labor, and gender-based violence. University Rector Jiri Zima praised the achievements, emphasizing that strong academic ties with Latin America, Spain, and Portugal provide vital avenues for joint scientific research, ecological fieldwork, and transformative cultural exchanges.
