
Finland | University of Jyväskylä has awarded Mikko Jakala the prestigious Language Campus Award in recognition of his long-standing contributions to language education and communication initiatives.Jäkälä, who serves as Head of Development at the Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication, received the award during the 2026 Language Campus Seminar held on April 15. He was recognized for his active and consistent efforts in developing programs, materials, and events that have significantly strengthened the visibility and impact of the Language Campus both within academia and beyond.The award was presented by senior representatives of key university units, who highlighted Jäkälä’s central role in shaping the Language Campus since its early days. He was described as a driving force behind numerous initiatives and events, earning widespread recognition and multiple nominations for this year’s award.The Language Campus Award is given annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advancing language and communication studies or significantly developing Language Campus activities at the university level.The Language Campus itself is a collaborative network within the university, bringing together experts from multiple departments and institutions to promote research, teaching, and policy development in language and communication.
