
Finland | The University of Jyväskylä has announced that its Department of Mathematics and Statistics will relocate to the Agora building in July and August 2026 as part of a strategic effort to optimize campus facilities and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration.From August 2026, the department will operate on the third and fourth floors of the Agora building’s B wing. While staff offices will be moved, most teaching activities will continue at the nearby Mattilanniemi and Ylistönrinne campuses to ensure continuity for students.According to Tapio Rajala, Head of the Department, the relocation will enhance cooperation particularly with the Faculty of Information Technology. The move supports growing connections between mathematics, statistics, and engineering disciplines.The new facilities are designed to improve learning environments, offering modern and flexible spaces that support collaborative teaching and research. The university believes this transition will benefit both students and staff in the long term.Briefing sessions for students and staff will take place in spring 2026, beginning on 23 April, to provide detailed information about the relocation and upcoming changes.
