
Belgium | University of Liege, in collaboration with the CHU de Liege, has successfully raised a total of 452027 euros in 2026 to support cancer research through major solidarity initiatives.The funds were collected during various activities, including the widely supported 24h Vélo event and other community driven efforts such as charity sales, breakfasts, and fundraising campaigns held throughout the year.Out of the total amount, 351293 euros were donated to the Televie, while 100734 euros were allocated to the Fondation Leon Fredericq to support oncology research conducted at the University of Liege and its partner hospital.This strong fundraising effort highlights the commitment of students, staff, volunteers, and partners who actively contributed to the cause. The initiative demonstrates the power of collective action within the academic and medical community in advancing cancer research.Organizers emphasized that such solidarity plays a crucial role in supporting researchers and accelerating progress in the fight against cancer. The 2026 campaign also contributed to a broader fundraising total supporting hundreds of researchers across the region.
