Poland | Students from the Warsaw University of Technology’s Chemistry Scientific Club Flogiston have won first place at the 8th National Chemical Demonstration Festival held in Toruń.The event, organized by students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, evaluates not only the scientific accuracy of chemical experiments but also their presentation style and storytelling. This year’s edition focused on the theme “Cyberchemistry,” combining traditional chemistry with modern technology and futuristic interpretations. The Warsaw team impressed the jury with a creative stage performance developed over three months. Their show combined a science fiction narrative involving a space mission with visually striking chemical experiments. The presentation included dramatic demonstrations such as lightning effects in a measuring cylinder, glowing laser reactions in test tubes, colored flames, smoke effects, and liquid nitrogen fog, alongside humorous theatrical elements. The success marks another strong performance by the student group in a competition that blends science, creativity, and public engagement.
